Offshore

Each member of the Reelwell executive team has over 20 years of experience in the offshore oil industry. This includes time in international operations, new technology product development and the wider oil and gas industry.

Combining experience and innovative drive, DualLink has been born out of a desire to connect the downhole to the future by addressing key issues where other powered drill pipes failed.

Enable next-level drilling
performance by powering
offshore operations

Data
  • More accurate well positioning

  • Faster, better informed decision making

  • Improved, predictable performance vs models

  • Link downhole and surface enabling the automated drilling machine

Power
  • Reduced battery handling by personnel on rig

  • Measurements closer to the bit

  • Opportunities to develop new BHA tools and processes

Reliability
  • Redundancy built in via multi-wire copper braid

  • Robust field replaceable connectors

  • Less reliance on mechanical components increases BHA reliability and productive drilling

Benefits for offshore operations

According to Rystad Energy, wired drill pipes and sensor technology will lead to a number of efficiencies:

20%

INCREASE IN RECOVERY

It's estimated that an increase in recovery factor of 10 points would represent a 20% increase in total recovery.

5%

EFFICIENCY GAIN

Improved visibility of the downhole environment and dynamics to the drilling team could deliver an efficiency gain of about 5%.  Further efficiencies can be made when wired pipe technologies are combined with innovations such as automated drilling.

2%

REDUCTION IN NPT

A reduction in NPT (Net Production Time) of 2% should be achievable.

N.B. NPT currently makes up around 15% of well costs (according to the Oil and Gas Authority UK)

7%

REDUCED CO2 EMMISSIONS

Reduced use of drilling rigs directly lowers emissions. Emissions from development drilling could reduce by as much as 7%. This equates to about 1.2 million tons of CO2.
